Duties and Responsibilities

The tasks and expectations of a Carer will include:

  1. Assisting Service Users with personal care tasks which will include; washing, dressing, showering, bathing, dressing and undressing, oral hygiene, toileting and getting in and out of bed
  2. Assisting Service Users with their mobility using the appropriate equipment as instructed and in accordance with moving & handling policy
  3. Preparing and/or heating meals, drinks and evening snacks where necessary
  4. Providing assistance with continence including: help with continence pads, toileting, catheter and colostomy care and emptying and cleaning commodes
  5. Maintaining an hygienic environment
  6. Domestic cleaning, doing the laundry (where it is specified on the care plan)
  7. Shopping, collecting the pension/prescription and assistance with paying bills
  8. Monitoring food and drink intake
  9. Prompting Service Users to take their prescribed medication and completing the necessary documentation
  10. Transporting and escorting Service Users
  11. To participate in regular supervision, team meetings and annual appraisal
  12. To undertake training as necessary to perform your duties to the highest standards, including registering for NVQ2 in care within 6 months of commencement of employment
  13. To comply with all Echoes Community Care’s policies and procedures
  14. To undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the service

Scope

Our Service Users are made up of: elderly frail and disabled (the majority); adults with mental health, learning or physical disabilities, people suffering from degenerative diseases, people who may be terminally ill and, in selected cases, younger adults.
